A woman from Royal Palm Beach, Florida, has complained about bed bugs in her apartment, and now she has to fight more than these little critters, according to the news channel WPBF-TV.
Gina Eubanks had to spend New Year's in a motel while her home was treated for bed bugs. She found out that her landlord knew about the pests before she even moved in, and now she is furious with him, the media outlet reports.
"It says in my lease I am responsible for extermination, which I can understand if I brought bugs in, but if I moved in and it was already like this, and I lost my stuff, I don't think it's right," she told the news soruce. "He knew about it. He should've treated it."
According to the 2011 Bugs Without Borders Survey, in some places, the number of bed bug complaints has double over the course of one year. Nursing homes was at 25 percent but jumped in 46 percent and schools went from 10 percent to 36 percent in a year. Those who are attempting to get rid of bed bugs may want to purchase a mattress encasement to keep trap the bugs until help arrives.
