Firefighters in Tampa, Florida, are now battling a little more than the regular blaze, they are now fighting off bed bugs, according to Fox News in Tampa.
The bed bugs were originally spotted back in September, and they were recently spotted in the dorm where the firefighters rest. That room is now off limits and they are sleeping in the hallway and lounge in cots until the bed bug problem is under control, according to the news source.
However, the firefighters haven't let the little critters affect their job performance.
"They're still doing a fabulous job," fire assistant chief Nick Locicero told the news source. "They know that they have a task at hand responding to calls so they're making their way through it."
According to the Mayo Clinic, these insects are approximately the size of an apple seed, are reddish brown and those who are trying to prevent bed bugs may want to invest in a mattress encasement, which can keep the bugs at bay or trap them until professional help arrives.
