Students from Wilson College continue to come across bed bugs and other pests in their dorms, but they are not reporting it, according to The Daily Princetonian.
"It seems to me that this is something students do not want to bother [Housing] with - it just doesn't look like the problem will go away," student Adriana Rexon told the news source. "I don't think it is really a health concern, so much as just a big inconvenience. It probably takes about a month before people get so annoyed with a problem that they actually report it."
According to the 2011 Bugs Without Borders Survey, the number of complaints surrounding bed bugs in the past year has grown dramatically. It isn't just in people's homes either. There has been an increase in colleges, hotels, nursing homes, office buildings, schools, hospitals, transportation vehicles and movie theaters. This year, the number of incidences at campuses across the country have increased to 54 percent from 35 percent.
Those who are looking to prevent bed bugs may want to invest in a mattress encasement, which can keep the little critters at bay or it can trap them until professional helps arrives.
