Senior residents from a government subsidized building have reported bed bugs, and even though upper management has treated the building, they are not allowing the residents to speak of the infestation, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
The management wrote a letter to one of the residents, explaining that if 73-year-old Dottie Shumway is discussing the bed bugs in the building to other residents, that she is in violation of her lease.
"Specifically, you have been overheard by management expressing your opinion of how the bed bug situation has been handled," the letter said, according to the news source. "This is causing undue stress and worry for many residents, which is a violation of their 'quiet enjoyment of the premises.' We ask that you cease this constant chatter and gossip. Contrary to what you are spreading through the building, we are handling this bed bug problem in the same manner as we have done at five other properties that we manage."
Those who believe that they have bed bugs may want to contact professional help for them to investigate. In the meantime, you can wash and dry your linens in high temperatures or purchase mattress covers, which can keep the bugs at bay or trap them until help arrives, according to Medline Plus.
