There are a number of people who are allergic to dust mites and their allergy symptoms can worsen in many situations. Those with asthma usually experience triggers of their condition from dust mites. Scientists from the University of London are currently testing the effectiveness of a new tablet that may be able to alleviate the asthma symptoms of a dust mite allergy, according to HealthCanal.com.
"We need people to come forward whose asthma is set off by house-dust-mites," Dr. Runa Ali, the principal investigator of the study, told the news source. "It will be a really exciting development if we can prove this tablet reduces their asthmatic symptoms."
The study is expected to be completed in March of 2013.
According to dustmites.org, people who are allergic to dust are actually allergic to dust mites, which are microscopic insects that feed off of people's dead skin cells. They are unavoidable, however there are ways to limit the severity of the symptoms that come with the allergy. Sufferers may want to invest in an allergy free pillow or mattress covers to lessen the symptoms.
