The Danville Rescue Mission in Illinois, recently had to close their doors for the possibility of a bed bug infestation, according to The Commercial-News.
The rescue mission center, which houses homeless males, had to close done after bed bugs were found in one of the rooms. Fortunately, the bugs were only found in the single room, and it is expected that they will be able to open up again in the next couple of days, according to the media outlet.
"The last three days we have not taken in new people," executive director Ted Parker told the news source. "I've been here 20 years. We've never had a bed bug problem."
According to the Mayo Clinic, bed bugs are approximately the size of an apple seed, are reddish brown and flat. They feed on blood and leave red, itchy bumps in a clutter or line on the skin. Those who fear that they may have these little critters may want to purchase a mattress encasement, which can prevent bed bugs or keep them trapped until professional help arrives.
