With the cold winter here to stay for a couple of months, many people have started to come down with a cold or a flu. However, in some cases people can be experiencing cold-like symptoms, but they are not sick. They could be suffering from allergy symptoms instead, according to Fox News.
Colds usually don't last too long, so if the symptoms aren't going away, there is a chance that they could be allergic to some indoor allergens, the media outlet reports.
"I couldn't get rid of [my headache], I couldn't shake it," Garyl Hester, 48, told the news source. "So [my doctor] tested me and found out I was allergic to dust mites, which I never knew before."
According to DustMites.org, dust mites are unavoidable, as they are microscopic insects that feed off of dead skin cells. Humans can be allergic to their exoskeletons, which they shed throughout their short lives. Those who are having trouble sleeping may want to invest in allergy free pillows to help them sleep through the night.
