Parents of students in Groveport, Ohio, were notified that there was a bed bug infestation at the local elementary school, according to WBNS-TV.
School officials announced that they found bed bugs in two separate classrooms, and they plan on treating these rooms as soon as possible, according to the media outlet.
"I'm very concerned," Jeffrey Sharp, who has a grandson in the school, told the news source. "I mean, bed bugs scare me. I don't even like houseflies. And when you get to bed bugs, I hear they're really nasty and you have to sometimes burn your mattresses and stuff."
According to the Mayo Clinic, bed bugs are approximately the size of an apple seed when they are adults, are reddish-brown and flat. They feed on human blood and in crevices and areas surrounding a bed. Those who are trying to prevent bed bugs may want to purchase a mattress encasement, which can either keep the bed bugs at bay or trap them until professional help arrives.
