There was a thorough search of the 13 libraries in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) to address if they had bed bugs after various reports were filed. However, the search found no trace of bed bugs so patrons of these Canadian libraries do not have to worry, according to Kamloops News.
However, they did install monitoring systems in the event that the bugs do infest the libraries.
"We're happy to announce that there were no reports whatsoever from the testing," said Kevin Kierans, director of TNRD library systems. "We will continue to monitor the situation very closely. Our staff also underwent training as well to help educate them about this issue."
According to the Mayo Clinic, bed bugs are approximately the size of an apple seed. They feed on human blood, and hide in areas surrounding a bed during the day and leave itchy, red bumps on the skin during the night. Those who are trying to get rid of bed bugs may want to purchase mattress covers, which can keep the bugs at bay or trap them until professional help arrives.
