Hospitals in Windsor, Canada, have been dealing with a large amount of bed bugs infestations, and the hospital officials continue to fight effectively against the problem, according to CBC News.
Spokespersons for the various hospitals continue to keep the patients and their families updated and hire professionals to get rid of the pests. However, patients' family members and the patients themselves continue to bring the bugs into the hospital, according to the media outlet.
"Something like bed bugs frankly is something for the whole community. It's not specific to hospitals. In fact, hospitals, you could argue, are better equipped to deal with it, because we do have the cleaning resources here," Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital spokesperson Steve Erwin told the news soruce.
According to the Mayo Clinic, bed bugs are approximately the size of an apple seed, are reddish-brown and flat. These little pests feed off of human blood and hide in various locations surrounding a bed. Those who are attempting to get rid of bed bugs may want to purchase a mattress encasement, which can trap the bugs until professional help arrives or keep them at bay.
