A person should be on the look out for any small blood spots that could have been left from feeding bugs. Also, washing the news clothes in high temperatures as soon as you bring them home may kill off the bugs.
According to the Mayo Clinic, bed bugs are approximately the size of an apple seed, are reddish-brown and flat. They feed on human blood and hide around a bed. Those who are attempting to prevent bed bugs may want to purchase a mattress cover, which can trap them until professional help arrives or keep them at bay.
