It was recently reported that the first 11 months of 2011 were the safest for air travel on record, according to the Los Angeles Times.
However, it wasn't completely safe, as the resurgence of bed bugs has made travel a little uncomfortable for some. The news source reports that 53 percent of business people who responded to a survey admitted that they are the most nervous about bed bugs when they visit new hotels, as these little insects cling onto a person's baggage or clothing.
According to the 2011 Bugs Without Borders Survey, pest professionals have been reporting to hotels, homes, trains, airports and schools at almost double the rate in some cases for bed bug complaints in the past year. Many transportation methods, including trains, taxis or airports, have seen a nine percent increase of incidences in the past year, which doubles the amount to 18 percent since last year.
Those who want to prevent bed bugs may want to purchase mattress covers, which can either trap the bed bugs until professional help arrives or keep them at bay.
